SUNY Upstate Medical University Postdoctoral Associate in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary: Candidate will design, perform, and analyze experiments in the field of experimental radiation oncology. The candidate will study metabolic manipulation of the tumor microenvironment as it relates to the growth and development of cancer as well as the synergy between metabolism and cancer therapeutics including radiation and immunotherapy, using a range of in silico, in vitro, and in vivo methods and techniques. Candidate will work directly with the PI but will carry out work and data analysis independently. The candidate will prepare scientific results for scientific meetings, publications, and research grants. Successful candidate will be adept at critical thinking and experimental design. They will carry out experiments and perform data analysis as well as preparation of manuscripts for publication. Candidate will be expected to work both independently and with the PI in problem solving and writing research protocols for ongoing translational research. Candidate will be expected to assist the PI in preparation of grant submissions including novel experimental design and reviewing and understanding relevant literature. Candidate will be expected to provide supervision and teaching for junior members of the laboratory as well.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in cancer biology, immunology, radiation biology or a similar discipline required.

Preferred Qualifications:

1 year of postdoctoral experience preferred. Candidate should have high proficiency in basic wet lab skills including cell culture, PCR, detection of gene and protein expression, confocal microscopy and flow cytometry. Candidates with experience in rodent surgeries and irradiation are preferred. Candidate will work independently under the direction of the PI.
