Crouse Hospital Patient Registration Rep in Syracuse, New York

The Patient Access/ Registration Representative ensures that all required patient demographic and insurance data is collected for treatment of care. Responsible for accurately entering the information into the hospital financial system and ensuring consent for treatment of the patient.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Effectively interviews patients and/or family members and accurately enters patient demographic and insurance information into hospital financial system.

2.Routinely performs eligibility and insurance verification of all insurance payors and ensures all pre-certification and authorization requirements are completed with the highest level of accuracy.

3.Proficiently determines the need for patient financial counseling and directs patient to appropriate department for assistance in a courteous manner.

4.Professionally informs patient of estimated self-pay amounts and collects co-pays/deductibles/deposits in an organized and timely manner.

5.Routinely reviews HIPAA regulations to maintain competency and ensure compliance at all times.

6.Provides education to patients and family members on the meaning of all forms required prior to obtaining hospital treatment to ensure full completion and verifies patient understanding.

7.Proficiently manages and coordinates incoming requests for patient scheduling, as directed by department leadership.

8.Promptly responds to incoming department communications and messages via email or phone.

9.Assumes other duties as assigned by department leadership.

Education/Experience Requirements

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 6 months- 1 year of fast paced office experience. Must have the ability to prioritize and multitask while being attentive to detail with strong administrative skills. Must have exceptional customer service and time management skills, be compassionate and patient.

  • Must pass a Patient Access test with a score of 75% or higher, administered by Human Resources

    Preferred:

  • Associates Degree in a related field

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in healthcare admitting or patient account receivable follow up, billing, payments, and/or adjustments required, preferably in an inpatient setting OR successful completion of a hospital-focused billing certificate program OR successful completion of a Crouse Hospital revenue cycle based internship program.

  • Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA).

    Hourly Rate Range

    $16.01 - $28.73/hour
