$2,000 sign on bonus ALL SHIFTS AVAILABLE

The Casey’s Place Direct Support Professional have the primary responsibility of providing a safe and secure environment for each individual.  Each DSP must work closely with other staff including Program Manager, Shift Supervisors, Nursing Staff and other administrators in order to meet the needs of the individuals. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide constant supervision and safety of the children.

  • Manage children’s behaviors according to approved and appropriate techniques including physical intervention when necessary (TCI).

  • Complete adequate and necessary documentation during the shift, including reading and signing all necessary documentation, thoroughly and on time.

  • Bed checks at time specified on IPOP.

  • Assist youth with morning, afternoon, and evening routine.

  • Passing of meds (if applicable).

  • Assist in creating a safe and secure environment, including securing objects that may be dangerous, maintaining cleanliness, ensuring safety of equipment, etc.

  • Consistently follow Behavior Guidelines and Individual Protective Oversight Plan (IPOP).

  • Promote independent living skills, meal prep and restocking of supplies (if necessary).

  • Promote social independence and community involvement.

  • Assist with individual’s personal care (when necessary).

  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.

  • Adhere to all rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

  • Personal values consistent with Elmcrest mission and values

  • Other duties assigned by supervisory staff or administration.

     

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Valid NYS Driver’s license

  • Excellent written and verbal skills to work with children and young adults with developmental disabilities.

  • Must interact and work well with others in a various fast-changing environments and situations.

  • Possess strong listening skills.

  • Effective problem solving skills.

  • Effective time management.

  • Self-confidence, self-esteem and high moral character are essential.

  • Previous experience with developmental disabilities,preferred.

  • Must be able touse technology (Netsmart) to support service documentation.

    Essential Job Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift   pounds with or without assistance.

  • Ability to sit, squat, crouch and stand for elongated periods of time

  • Ability to lift arms over head in upward reaching motion

  • Ability to walk up and downstairs up to several times per day.
