IST 671: This course introduces students to a variety of approaches that can be taken in research studies and the appropriate selection and application of methods, including quantitative,

qualitative, critical, historical, and design-based approaches, from research formulation of results.

After taking this course, students will be able to:

· Frame a social science research project

· Choose research approaches appropriate for the type of problem to be addressed

· Communicate effectively about research

· Demonstrate familiarity with research ethics and researcher responsibility
