Crouse Hospital Nurse Practitioner - Diabetes $20,000 Sign On in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

The Nurse practitioner practices in collaboration with the attending physician as direct healthcare providers. Responsibilities include working with patients and families to coordinate the delivery of care throughout hospitalization. This is done by assessing, diagnosing, treating, educating and consulting through regular and/or crisis intervention.

The Diabetes NP provides comprehensive diabetes management and education to patients & families in both acute and ambulatory settings. Patients are identified through case findings and requests for consultations. Job Requirements:

Required: Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. Currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in Adult, Family Practice or Specialty area in New York State. Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in acute care nursing. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at the time of hire of within two (2) weeks after hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required at the time of hire or within three (3) months after hire. AHA Stroke Certification part A required within one (1) month of employment; part B required within six (6) months of hire date.

Preferred: Previous critical care experience. Master’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent. Certification in a specialty area.
