Crouse Hospital Nurse Practitioner- Addiction Treatment Services in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

Nurse Practitioners (N.P.) practice in collaboration with the Attending Physician, as direct health care providers. Nurse Practitioners work with patients and their families to coordinate the delivery of the patient's care throughout hospitalization. Nurse Practitioner responsibilities include, but are not limited to: obtaining health histories and performing physical examinations, ordering appropriate diagnostic tests and treatment regimens, providing patient, family, nursing staff, resident and medical student education and being available for consultations and crisis intervention. N.P.'s work closely with the patient/significant others/families and all members of the multidisciplinary team to develop an appropriate plan of care and communicate it effectively. The Nurse Practitioner will practice within the guidelines of the written practice agreement and practice protocols.

The Chemical Dependency NP will be covering all areas of the CD service line including the Opioid Treatment Program and Commonwealth Place. Responsibilities will include providing history & physical assessments, and assessing emerging medical needs of the patients. This position will entail the participation in a multidisciplinary treatment team to assist in medical emergencies.

Job Requirements:

Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse. Current New York State Certification as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner. Minimum of two (2) years experience in acute care nursing. Minimum of two (1) years work experience as a Nurse Practitioner required. Master of Science Degree in Nursing or its direct equivalent, preferred. Hold and maintain all required certifications to practice in an OASAS certified addiction program (Only required for NPs working with Chemical Dependency).
