SUNY Upstate Medical University Medical Office Assistant in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

Responsible for clinical and clerical support to the Neurology private clinical practices.

Duties include scheduling appointments, insurance authorizations, patient registration, patient correspondence, scanning medical records and additional front desk duties as needed.

Additional responsibilities include taking patient vitals, weights, blood pressures and rooming patients; assist providers with minor procedures as needed.

Must be able to complete multiple tasks in a timely and accurate manner, demonstrate proper telephone technique and etiquette as well as maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Primary office location is the Neurology Suite at Upstate Bone & Joint Center in East Syracuse. Additional clerical and clinical support as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate from an approved Medical Assistant or Medicine Office Assistant program with at least one year of administrative and clinical experience in a medical office setting required (2-4 years experience preferred). Associate degree preferred.

Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required.

Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Epic, Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.

Work Days:

Monday - Friday daytime hours
