Crouse Hospital Med Imag Reg/Billing Supp/Flt in Syracuse, New York

This position performs tasks directly related to patient scheduling, registration, pre and post exam preparation, registration and gathering demographic/insurance information, auditing department billing and coding, following up as necessary. This role also floats to cover various administrative support positions within the Medical Imaging department(s).

  • Proactively monitors and audits billing and coding activities to ensure full completion and accuracy.

  • Proficiently clarifies and resolves discrepancies in billing procedures.

  • Regularly floats to cover other administrative roles withing the Medical Imaging department(s).

  • Routinely schedules and registers Medical Imaging patients using department computer systems.

  • Accurately collects and verifies patient and insurance information.

  • Answers telephone and email inquiries in a polite and professional manner; refers all calls to appropriate person, takes and relays detailed messages in a timely manner.

  • Properly files and stores patient records/medical imaging films and retrieves, in an organized and timely fashion.

  • Ensures service and procedure codes and written scripts are obtained and accurately processed in an organized and timely manner.

  • Meticulously maintains inventory of clerical and materials management supplies for the department.

  • Promptly notifies Technologist upon arrival of patient into department and transports/directs patients, as needed.

  • Professionally reports results of imaging studies to Physicians and other health related facilities either by phone, fax or delivery.  

  • Assumes other duties as assigned by the department leadership   

    Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of three (3) years scheduling /registration and billing experience in a fast-paced, healthcare office setting.

  • Minimum typing speed of 45 adjusted words per minute.

  • Medical Terminology knowledge required. All candidates will be required to pass a Medical Terminology exam with a score of 75% or higher.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office. Prior use of a PC and related MS Office applications is required. Must be multi-tasked and be able to handle a fast paces office. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Prior billing experience required. Strong knowledge of accounting. Prior usage of computer software within a Medical Imaging Department necessary

Hourly Rate Range:

$16.01 - $28.73/hour
