SUNY Upstate Medical University Industrial Hygienist in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

The Industrial Hygienist will conduct qualitative and quantitative investigations of patient workplaces in order to assist with the patients care, develop safe return-to-work plans and prevent exposures of other workers. Conduct qualitative and quantitative investigations of workplace conditions based on requests from patients, unions, employers or other groups, and on assessments of community need. This person will report findings, results and recommendations with management and employee representatives. Provide follow-up education and ongoing recommendations. Regularly assess patient visit data to identify disease patterns and needs that can be preventative addressed. Monitor relevant key developments of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), NIOSH, EPA, USDA, and other government agencies, both state and federal. Will write Industrial Hygiene and any other relevant sections for required reports and grant applications to the NYS Department of Health and other organizations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene, environmental health, occupational health and safety, toxicology, safety sciences, public health, or a related scientific field and minimum of 2 years work experience in the field of occupational health and safety or closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in industrial hygiene, environmental health, occupational health and safety, toxicology, safety sciences, public health, or a related scientific field. Advanced degree is preferable but not required.

Knowledge of industrial hygiene principles and technical methods; relevant laws and regulations; public health; and research methodologies.

Work Days:

Monday-Friday, 8:30am -4:30pm
