SRC, Inc Design and Program Quality Engineering Manager in Syracuse, New York

is currently seeking a Senior Quality Engineer.The selected candidate will assist in the design and development of military and consumer radar-based products.
What You'll Do
SRC is seeking a Manager for our Design and Program Quality Engineering group to focus on two key areas:
  • Product Development: Manage Quality Engineers who work with product development teams and ensure smooth execution of product realization and sustainment throughout the product lifecycle
  • Program Execution: Manage Quality Engineers who work on government contracts that meets the requirements of the Customer contract and SRC's Quality Management System (QMS)
You lead Quality Engineering execution through:
Design Quality Execution:
  • Define clear objectives for Quality Engineers regarding their roles in product realization and sustainment. Increase the groups technical understanding where needed
  • Communicate the importance of adhering to the SRC's product development phase/gate process and design output documentation
  • Foster a collaborative environment between Quality Engineers and product development teams. Encourage open communication to facilitate smooth execution of projects
  • Ensures Quality Engineers are sufficiently engaged in development activities such that teams follow processes, procedures, and create documentation necessary for quality assurance and control
  • Identify potential risks early in the product lifecycle and develop strategies to mitigate them
Quality Program Execution:
  • Define clear objectives for the quality program implementation, ensuring alignment with both the Customer contract and SRC's QMS
  • Works across Quality Engineering and other functions to ensure Customer contracts are thoroughly reviewed and understood. Helps QE's gain the knowledge to Identify specific quality standards outlined in the contract and QMS
General Management Support
  • Assess the workload of Quality Engineers and allocate resources according to project and / or program needs. Ensure that each engineer has a balanced workload, considering their expertise and capacity
  • Provide ongoing mentoring and training to Quality Engineering staff to enhance their skills and knowledge. Offer ongoing support and opportunities for skill development as needed
  • Implement a system for measuring the execution of SRC's product development phase/gate process and design output documentation. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the Quality Engineering team and across the organization
  • Establish clear documentation standards and ensure that design output documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and compliant with relevant regulations and standards
  • Generate regular reports on quality performance, highlighting achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement
What You'll Bring
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or science discipline. Master's degree in Engineer Management is a plus
  • Experience: Ten or more years of related management experience. Five years of experience in design of complex military systems is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in dynamic, highly diverse, cross discipline teams
  • Strong communication skills (written verbal, visual), interpersonal skills, (listening, group facilitation), able to persuade, motivate or energize others at all levels of the organization
  • Some travel required (10%)
Ways to Stand Out - Preferred Requirements
  • Experience in the design and development of complex military radar, communication, and/or electronic warfare systems, including system-of-systems is a plus
  • Experience in a international regulatory capacity, understand various statutory requirements for regions such as the EU, Japan, Eastern Europe and the Middle East is a plus

Total compensation for this role is market competitive. The anticipated salary range for this position based out of Syracuse, NY is estimated at $115,000 to $134,000 annually.
