SUNY Upstate Medical University Audio-Visual Technician in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

The Audio-Visual Technician will provide daily support of Audio-Visual Services including basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, upkeep of classrooms, and providing assistance for end users requesting AV support. Responsible for setup of equipment for live events including PA system, podium, microphones, multbox for press, audio mixer and ancillary equipment. Provides technical operation and assistance with video streaming of live events. Responsible for setup and operation of AV and conference systems in the Bio Tech Accelerator TED theater, including assisting presenters, and operating switchers and mixers for programs. Provides technical support for video production events, including setup, operation and take down of audio and video equipment in studio and remote location situations. Performs video camera and audio equipment operation for video productions or live events. Supports and instructs faculty and other clients on effective use of audio-visual and conferencing equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates degree (or higher) and two years of experience as an AV technician required. Demonstrated experience operating audio and video equipment including mixers, microphones, audio speakers and video projectors. Experience with operation of AV control systems such as Extron, Crestron and Cisco systems. Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues under pressure. Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings, and weekends to accommodate event schedules. Ability to lift equipment for placement (podiums, speakers, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with live streaming video preferred. Videography experience with current video camera technology preferred.

Work Days:

M-F days with occasional off-hour evenings or weekends
