SUNY Upstate Medical University Assistant Nurse Manager in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of assigned CG-Operating Room nursing area(s) in order to facilitate and deliver comprehensive quality nursing care and to manage the environment in which care is given. The Assistant Nurse Manager prioritizes tasks for nursing staff, deals with staffing issues and problems, and assists with goals, planning, customer service, standards, certification and accreditation, administrative and budget management, personnel resource management, communication, and quality activities. Ensures adherence to hospital or department and university policies and to nursing policies, procedures, standards, and practices. The Assistant Nurse Manager functions on the off-shift in the inpatient setting; in other areas, the ANM shift is based on operational needs. The Assistant Nurse Manager exemplifies the Upstate mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Upstate policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Nursing or a Masters degree in Nursing is required. NYS Licensed/Registered Nurse (or eligible) required. Two years of post-licensure acute care experience (preferably in a specialty area) is required. CPR-BLS certification is required by the time of appointment. Excellent written/oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Nursing Leadership certification and prior leadership experience are strongly preferred.
