Overview

The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers make a difference in people's lives. Through the collection and resale of gently used goods we are able to provide the financial support to assist men and women with a variety of social and spiritual afflictions. The in-residence rehabilitation program focuses on basic necessities with every man or woman being provided a clean and healthy living environment, good food, work therapy, leisure time activities, group and individual counseling, and spiritual direction. All our effort is focused on developing life skills and a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. More than just a job, each member of the team contributes to recycling goods that literally recycle and repair broken lives.

The Salvation Army ARC is seeking a Kitchen Supervisor to m aintain health and safety standards in the kitchen and food serving area, track inventory, and provide oversight and guidance to all personnel assigned to the kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, train, supervise and schedule all personnel assigned to the kitchen. Be sure that they understand their responsibilities and carry them out properly.

  • Ensure that all menus are followed, food is properly prepared, and all meals are served on time.

  • Maintain safe and sanitary conditions in the kitchen, dining room, and all related storage areas.

  • Ensure that all personnel understand the need for personal hygiene.

  • Ensure that food is properly rotated and leftovers used as quickly as possible.

  • Maintain a posted schedule to ensure kitchen is adequately staffed at all times to meet the workload.

  • Ensure that the breakfast menu is being followed and morning assignments are completed.

  • Enforce kitchen dress code and rules of conduct at all times.

  • Prepare and cook food; assist in preparations, as needed, alongside staff.

  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all food and related kitchen supplies.

  • Ensure the security of the kitchen, stock and the entire food serving areas. Nothing is to be taken out of these areas without the express permission of the Administrator(s).

  • Check freezers and refrigerators daily for proper temperature and expiration of unused food to be placed on menu (food can spoil if left too long or temperature is not maintained properly).

  • Maintain time cards for employees.

  • Maintain other records as assigned.

  • Attend staff meetings as required by the Administrator(s).

  • Assist in the planning and determining of the quantity of food needed.

  • Provide special attention and guidance to beneficiaries in the program.

  • This position will support the work therapy program component of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers by providing to beneficiaries; an example of professional conduct, work habits, and supervision (as directed by Supervisor)

  • Other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor and/or Administrator(s)

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, equivalent, or relevant experience.

  • Certificate of completion of ServSafe or government program/training for kitchen safety.

  • Knowledge of kitchen and experience with food preparation for large groups.

  • Ability to follow directions and to lead a team.
