SUNY Upstate Medical University Administrative Assistant in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

Reporting to Administrator of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Neurological Institute and Transplant Center, the administrative assistant will provide administrative/secretarial support to the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Administration Department, Neurological Institute for Operations, Inpatient Rehab & Medical Director and Transplant center support. Coordinating all aspects of PM&R administration operations, including planning, organizing, utilizing, controlling resources. Responsible for coordinating various administrative duties to include coordinating office management, calendars, meetings minutes, special projects as assigned, maintenance and control of supply purchase, coordinates updates to policies and procedures, participating in committees. Facilitate open lines of communication with staff, business managers, directors, PM&R leadership team, physicians, residents, patients and family.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree and one (1) year relevant medical practice setting experience OR Associates Degree and three (3) years relevant medical practice setting experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience required. Excellent written/oral communication, organizational and computer skills necessary. Ability to work effectively with all levels of administration and medical staff personnel; demonstrated creativity, and mature judgment necessary in anticipating and solving problems.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of patient registration processes and insurance verification preferred. PM&R, Neurosciences or Health care experience preferred.
