Job Summary

Reporting to the Quality Director as a Quality Engineer, you will be a key player in ensuring the highest standards of quality in our aerospace manufacturing processes. Your responsibilities will include supporting production operations with quality concerns, working to ensure the highest levels of quality are achieved and maintained, working to support quality organization and companywide goals.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Collaboration: Collaborate within the quality department and other value streams to develop, implement, and maintain robust quality assurance processes and procedures. Apply in-depth knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) and inspection methods to ensure product conformance. Material review board participation and material disposition signature. Work in a close, collaborative fashion with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering and Production management in the pursuit of common metric-based goals.

Production Support: Work closely with production teams to address and resolve quality-related issues promptly. Provide expertise and guidance to ensure that quality and product standards are consistently met during manufacturing processes. Establish and maintain process controls to reduce costs related to scrap and rework and improve first time yield.

Internal Audits: Conduct thorough internal audits in accordance with AS9100 standards to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to the quality management system requirements.

Root Cause Analysis: Lead investigations into quality issues, non-conformances, and deviations using effective root cause analysis methods. Implement corrective and preventive actions to address identified issues and prevent reoccurrence. Sources of corrective action will be both internal and external requiring both internal and external communication.

Documentation and Reporting: Develop and maintain accurate and comprehensive records of quality inspections, test results, and corrective actions. Generate or revise as needed standard operating procedure and work instructions to support quality management system. Generate regular quality reports for management review and decision-making.

Training and Development: Provide training to production and quality teams on relevant quality processes and standards. Stay informed about industry advancements and share knowledge to enhance the team's capabilities.

Qualifications / Skills

  • Engineering degree or relative work experience.

  • Proven experience as a Quality Engineer in the aerospace industry.

  • In-depth knowledge of GD&T and inspection methods.

  • Material and process knowledge.

  • Familiarity with AS9100 standards and aerospace quality requirements.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to address quality issues in a timely manner.

  • Proficiency in process control tools (SPC, Process Capability Analysis, audits, MSA, FMEA, etc.)

  • Expert in root cause and corrective actions (RCCA) analysis tools such as 5 Whys and Fish Bone diagram, and structured approach such as 8D, RCCA, 7 Step, CAR, etc.

  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9102, AS9100 standards, FAA regulations.

  • Comfortable in making decisions in a rapid paced, forward evolving environment.
