The Opportunity:

Under broad supervision this position is responsible for the provision of specialist engineering services related to marine/mechanical engineering in the support of the material remediation of the configuration baseline of the AORs.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate shortcoming in design, materials and system performance against contract specifications and participate in the development of solutions to resolve the problems.

  • Review and comment on engineering changes, including supporting ILS documentation.

  • Liaise with multiple stakeholders including AORCA SPO staff, AOR ship’s staff, the In-service Support Contractor (Navantia), OEMs and Lloyd’s Register in the course of your duties.

  • Participate in the development and conduct of tests and trials to determine system performance against design intent.

  • Provide specialist advice in support of team members engaged in multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Produce detailed technical reports and associated documentation as required.

    Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Degree in naval architecture/ engineering with major in marine/mechanical engineering.

  • 10 years’ post-graduate experience, preferably in a naval engineering environment.

  • Sea-going experience in the merchant marine or naval environments would be beneficial.

  • Able to work within the Seaworthiness Management System.

  • Qualified to hold a Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP) delegation.

  • A current ASGVA baseline clearance or above
