Key responsibilities include:

  • Advice and interpretation of the provisions of the Building Code of Australia and Access provisions of the Building Regulations and other associated documents including Disability (Access to Premises – Building) Standards 2010.

  • Assistance in the application of Building Regulations to project design and development.

  • Participation in negotiations with Building Regulatory Authorities.

  • Appraisal and assessment of Development Approval conditions

  • Appraisals and certification of “Essential Fire Safety Measures”.

  • Assistance in the selection of materials and construction methods to achieve compliance with the Building Regulations and providing design options to satisfy the relevant Building Regulations.

  • Identify where Fire Safety Engineering is required for new and existing buildings.

  • Preparation of “Performance Solution” Design verification reports for non-fire performance solutions.

  • Preparation of certification of building design and certification of completion/occupation compliance certificates within time and cost constraints and fulfilling quality requirements.

  • Accessibility audits and appraisal of existing and new buildings.

  • Determine where variations to the scope of works are necessary under the BCA guidelines and discuss with your Manager.

  • Assess or critique Fire Engineering Reports.

  • Provide assessment documentation within the timeframes given.

  • Undertake site inspections of progressing and completed works - This will include representing BCA Logic at site visits and client meetings.

Our assessment criteria for this position will include:

  • At least 3 years industry experience covering the technical skills identified as required for the role.

  • Familiarity with the construction industry

  • Be capable of being accredited as a Grade 2 or 3 (as a minimum) Building Surveyor under the provisions of the NSW Department of Fair-Trading Registered Certifiers Accreditation Scheme, or capacity to attain this level of accreditation in the near future under the provisions of the NSW BPB accreditation scheme.

  • Have a reasonable knowledge of the performance requirements of the BCA.

  • Have a reasonable knowledge of the BCA and related Australian Standards under the supervision of Directors and Managers.

  • Have a reasonable knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and Regulations, Home Building Act and Regulations and the Disability Discrimination Act and Regulations
