Job Description:

As a Safety Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant workplace. You will collaborate with employees at all levels to foster a culture of safety, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective actions. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of safety regulations, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to safety management.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify potential hazards.
  • Collaborate with department heads to develop and maintain safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Lead safety training programs and ensure that employees are aware of and adhere to safety standards.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses, and report findings.
  • Recommend and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Maintain safety records and documentation, including incident reports and safety training records.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and safety regulations.
  • Develop emergency response plans and coordinate drills.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or relevant experience in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or a related field
  • Proven experience as a Safety Coordinator or a related safety role.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety software applications.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Certification in safety management (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, OSHA 30-hour, MSHA) is a plus.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
