Job Summary

We have an immediate opening for a Medication Technician at our long-term care facility. Under the supervision of our registered nurses, you will help administer medications to our residents. You will review each patient's file, check their current prescriptions, prepare dosages, and assist patients with taking all their required medicines. We also expect our Medication Technicians to provide direct care to our residents and collaborate with other staff to ensure our patients receive the best care possible.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review patient records and discuss current medications with staff nurses.
  • Prepare proper dosages and distribute medications to residents.
  • Document all medicines taken to ensure patient records are current.
  • Coordinate medication changes, refills, and deliveries with patient physicians and pharmacies.
  • Provides services to individuals with disabilities to enable them to obtain independence and/or maintain safe and sanitary living conditions.
  • Providing immobile, ill, or frail clients with assistance, company, and comfort.
  • Monitoring the physical, mental, and emotional conditions of clients and reporting changes to designated parties.
  • Performing personal hygiene care and housekeeping duties.
  • Preparing meals and assisting clients with eating and drinking.
  • Assisting with the use of incontinence products or providing bathroom visit support.
  • Assisting clients from their beds into chairs or wheelchairs, and back.
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe environment.
  • Providing and participating in activities, socializing with the clients is very important. We do not need Couch Potatoes
  • Attends meetings and training as required.
  • Advocate for individuals with disabilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Techniques and practices utilized to provide services to persons with disabilities.
  • Housekeeping practices, including cleaning, laundry, and dishwashing guidelines for proper storage and preparation of food.

Training will be provided to Gain Basic knowledge of:

  • Techniques are used to assist persons with bathing and personal hygiene.
  • Laws and regulations governing care providers who work with persons with disabilities.
  • Preparation of documents and records.

Skill in or the Ability to:

  • Building positive working relationships with persons who have a range of physical, psychological, and developmental disabilities.
  • Creating a clean, pleasant, home - like atmosphere in client residences.
  • Creating and maintaining a positive working environment.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients, coworkers, and the public.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • LVN license (preferred)
  • 1+ years working with the elderly and assisting with medications (preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Must pass a background check and drug test.

Wage/Salary

  • $16.00 - $17.00 Per Hour
