Basic Job Functions:

  • A commitment to Safety, Environmental, Quality, Productivity and Profitability through leadership throughout the division.

  • Lead the division environmental, health, and safety team. Providing direct oversight, vision, and teammate development. Oversight responsibilities include the Columbus, GA office, Swansea, SC plant and office, and the LaCrosse, VA plant.

  • Monitor OSHA and EPA compliance along with any applicable state and local agency compliance.

  • Be a conduit of information and conformance with Nucor Corporation and all its divisions.

  • Establish and maintain any divisional environmental, health, or safety certifications such as VPP Star, ISO 14001, or the like.

  • Develop and maintain the Environmental Management System, Safety Management System, and divisional Health Program through leadership of the EHS team.

  • Oversight of the onsite clinic and its contractors.

  • Verify and provide contractor safety training and certification.

  • Lead the post incident response for our teammates and our business, including but not limited to, teammate care, OSHA reporting, and incident investigation.

Basic Job Functions: continue

  • Engage in best-marking and resource sharing with the collective Nucor Buildings Group and Nucor Fabricated Products Group to improve division and group performance.

  • Travel with short notice. Working the required hours, including flexibility for second and third shifts, and to be on call in emergency situations 24/7. Regular travel to the three division sites will be required.

  • Review teammate performance to identify coaching needs and set expectations through growth & development sessions.

  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring and accountability for department.

  • Develop the members of the department beyond the basic functions of their role including, but not limited to, business acumen, people skills and the like to help them reach their full potential.

  • Actively engage with the Production Manager and other members of Division Leadership to strategically plan and execute initiatives to improve safety, health and environment.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Manager Team.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. .

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Prior leadership experience including overseeing direct reports and/or experience with coaching and mentoring.

  • 3 years of metal building experience or formal education in health, environmental or safety with prior workplace EHS experience.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office.

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
