We are hiring a technical engineer in innovation, creating cutting-edge AI solutions that transform the user experience on Windows devices. Our Windows team is dedicated to advancing AI capabilities, delivering intelligent, scalable services that redefine the way users interact with technology.

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Applied Scientist in Shanghai, Suzhou or Beijing to join our Windows team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in building fine-tuning AI models, building AI pipelines, having well knowledge on both large language models and small language models (run on devices) and tuning models on CPU/GPU/NPU. This role is crucial for enhancing AI skills and delivering exceptional AI experiences on Windows devices.

Responsibilities

  • Model Fine-Tuning:  Fine-tune AI models to improve accuracy, efficiency, and performance, ensuring they meet the high standards of our user base.

  • Data analysis: Design & develop data transformation processes for petabytes of raw data, perform feature engineering for machine learning. 

  • A/B Testing:  Conduct A/B testing to evaluate the effectiveness of AI models and services, providing insights and recommendations for improvements.

  • Performance Optimization:  Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring AI services run smoothly and efficiently on various Windows devices.

  • Collaboration:  Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, UX designers, and product managers, to integrate AI solutions seamlessly into Windows.

  • Communication : Communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner to non-technical audiences. 

  • Innovation:  Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning technologies, and apply these insights to drive innovation within the team.

  • Code Quality:  Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, adhering to best practices and industry standards.

  • Mentorship:  Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative development environment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Education :   Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience:  Minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering with a focus on AI and machine learning.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, or C++.

  • Strong understanding of AI and machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.).

  • Familiarity with data processing and analysis tools (SQL, Cosmos, Spark).

  • AI Expertise:

  • Demonstrated experience in building AI features.

  • Proficient in fine-tuning AI models for performance and accuracy.

  • Experience with A/B testing and statistical analysis.

  • Problem-Solving:  Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.

  • Communication:  Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with experiments, machine learning, anomaly detection, predictive analysis, exploratory data analysis, and/or other areas of data science on a large-scale product. 

  • Experience with languages like C#/Java is a plus. 

  • Engineering experience using large data systems on SQL, cosmos, Hive queries, etc.is nice to have.
