Bowman Planner I - Suwanee, GA in Suwanee, Georgia



Perform the planning-related activities for residential, commercial and public land development projects for Bowman's growing Land Planning Group.

At the Operational Level

  • Work closely with more senior staff members to develop conceptual site configurations, exhibits, and studies to support the Planning Group and client requests.

Do the Work

  • Assist in preparing conceptual plans and / or land planning for various projects.

  • Assist in the preparation of site feasibility studies and reports.

  • Assist in the preparation of submittal documents to obtain zoning approvals / permits.

  • Research, analyze, compile and display data for problem solving and/or official publication regarding planning issues.

  • Compile and assimilate reports and records for documentation purposes, accountability and future reference such as impact studies, population data and analysis, maps, and diagrams.

Success Metrics

  • Works effectively with internal leaders as well as external clients.

  • Have a sense of urgency in responding to internal and external clients.

  • Be able to work successfully in a collaborative team environment.

  • Incorporates creativity into concept plans while emphasizing the importance of accuracy including following internal quality control processes.

  • Enjoys physical planning within existing conditions and constraints.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum zero to three (0-3) years’ experience in land development industry.

  • Civil engineering experience preferred.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in urban planning, landscape architecture or equivalent preferred.

  • Valid state driver's license and passing a motor vehicle check.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience reading construction plans.

  • Experience with computer applications systems (AutoCAD) and design software required.  

  • Skill using industry-standard planning software and graphic design applications (Photoshop, Sketchup, etc.) is preferred.
