Job Description: Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is currently seeking a Senior Engineering Manager at our Superior Township, MI facility to lead a new R&D department for vehicle software development. The department is to undertake various innovation projects related to Electric/Electronic systems software development for the next generation vehicle software architecture. This position reports to the Director of Vehicle SW Development Group. Core Responsibilities *   Work with the director to establish a new engineering department by defining the organization structure and key competencies, roles, and responsibilities for all the required positions within the department *   Set up department goals and objectives aligned with the group's strategic direction and develop short/long term operation and growth plan *   Hire engineering managers and engineering staffs to form multiple project units and build required engineering capabilities for the team's development projects *   Manage department's resource and budget allocation/usage, assign engineering projects to individual project units, evaluate and improve their performance *   Initiate new engineering projects and proactively drive engagement, execution, and results *   Supervise program progress and deliver executive presentations on key development milestones and achievements *   Participate in the group's resource planning, goal setting, and technology road map development *   Facilitate inter-team collaboration and knowledge sharing through transparent and prompt communication *   Establish new partnerships with external project partners, such as universities, national labs, and tech suppliers, and introduce new technologies and methods to production development *   Remain current with new technology and competitive products as a means to drive innovation *   Foster and maintain positive/collaborative/innovative work environment *   Provide deep dive technical support for pre-/post-production issues *   Initiate and drive engineering projects related to: o   New/improved software functions for vehicle E/E systems including in-vehicle network management systems and OTA platforms o   New FOD contents targeting North American market customers o   Localization of global vehicle software contents o   POC of newly developed functions/contents and production proposal to production programs o   Collaboration with vehicle test organizations for testing and validating new functions o   Participation in global vehicle SW architecture/platform development activities o   Competitor system benchmarking, industry technology sensing and trend analysis *   Travel both domestically and internationally (up to 20%)

Basic Qualifications *  B.S. in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field or a combination of education and equivalent experience *  Minimum 10 years of experience in an automotive or embedded product development *  Minimum 3 years of people management experience as an engineering manager or a supervisor *  A track record of engineering project leadership related to any aspects of vehicle SW, from concept development to production system integration *  Software development experience in vehicle E/E systems, consumer electronics or related products *  Able to adapt to agile work scope with shifting priorities, demands, and timelines *  Comfortable with blank-slate initiatives as well as on-going established projects *  Good communication skills and ability to develop/keep good relation
