Meta VR Hardware Systems Engineering Lead in Sunnyvale, California

Summary:

The VR Hardware Systems Engineering Lead is a technical leadership role responsible for driving innovation and overseeing the entire new product development cycle, from concept to scale, for VR devices. Working directly under the Head of Hardware, this individual contributor collaborates with cross-functional leaders in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, display, optics, system architecture, systems engineering, product management, Industrial design, XRTech, Software manufacturing and Operations. They must have a proven track record of successfully shipping products, demonstrating technical depth, and possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Required Skills:

VR Hardware Systems Engineering Lead Responsibilities:

  1. Lead hardware and technology teams through all phases of engineering design, development, and validation to bring complex VR products to mass production.

  2. Establish strategic relationships with product peers in engineering, research, business, design, and user research teams to define product requirements and architecture.

  3. Provide technical ownership and guidance to make crucial hardware product decisions, enabling the realization of cutting-edge VR devices for Meta's users.

  4. Collaborate effectively across all levels of management and individual contributors both internally and externally.

  5. Drive business results, optimize overall business objectives, and foster an environment of collaboration and innovation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or relevant industry experience

  2. 10+ years of experience in hardware product development, with an experience in track record of successfully shipping products to market.

  3. Experience with multiple full life-cycle product launches

  4. Proven Technical expertise in one of the following hardware disciplines, including electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, display, optics, and systems engineering.

  5. Proven leadership skills, demonstrating the experience to lead cross-functional hardware and technology teams throughout the entire product development cycle.

  6. Effective communication skills, to articulate complex technical concepts and drive alignment on product requirements and architecture.

  2. Previous AR/VR or Wearables experience

  3. Previous Display and Optics experience

  4. Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

Public Compensation:

$204,000/year to $281,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
