The Amazon Devices team designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics, including the best-selling Kindle family of products. We have also produced groundbreaking devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, Amazon Dash, and Amazon Echo

What will you help us create?

In this role, you will define Power Management IC (PMIC) for SOCs. You will define features, functions and architect suitable solutions that will drive the next generation SOC based products. This includes understanding and identifying potential avenues to improve power delivery and make selection based on a cost to performance balance. You will be familiar with full cycle silicon development in order to meet program deliverables in a timely manner.

You will:

• Have working knowledge of consumer electronics system power delivery

• have In-depth knowledge of PMIC building blocks and capable of defining them

• Be well versed with power topologies and is able to drive selection

• Have experience with both pre-silicon and post-layout simulations and performance analysis of power modules

• Have proven track record of bringing new silicon to Mass Production (MP)

• Must be a technical leader who can bring consensus by providing the best solution through vendor selection

• Understand the tradeoff of system performance and cost

Key job responsibilities

You will be responsible for analyzing and defining power delivery for next-generation consumer electronic systems. You will lead development of power delivery based solutions and converge on system definition across cross-functional teams. Through your experience you will establish sustainable solution development processes. You will be forward looking in identifying industry trends and build solutions tailored to respective power system solutions.

Basic Qualifications

• BS degree or higher in EE or related filed

• 7+ years or more of experience with system power delivery for consumer electronics

• Experience with PMIC definition, design including full-chip and sub-block integration

• Experience closing full PMIC pre-silicon and post silicon checks leading to tapeout

• Fluent with DC-DC power converter design, compensation techniques, fast load transient designs

Preferred Qualifications

• MS degree or higher in EE

• 6+ years or more of relevant experience

• In-depth knowledge of CPU internal power delivery

• System power bring-up and post silicon validation experience

• Experience with early power analysis

• Architecture/System engineering experience

• Experience working with software teams to tightly define the HW/SW interface including

control/status registers, and fault handling.

• Experience working closely with physical design teams to develop highly optimized power systems

with excellent power, performance and area and trade-offs.

• Experience using power simulation tools such as Simplis, Spice and others

• Experience in working with internal and external partners.

• Experience in power IP development such as novel switching converters and other power management sub-systems

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
