Google Security Engineer, Enterprise Infrastructure Protection, Identity and Access in Sunnyvale, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience with security in attacks and mitigation methods.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in two or more of the following: network protocols and secure network design, operating system internals and hardening (e.g., Linux, OS X, Android), web application and browser security, security assessments and pen testing, authentication and access control, applied cryptography and security protocols, security monitoring and intrusion detection, incident response and forensics, development of security tools, automation or frameworks.

There's no such thing as a "safe system" - only safer systems. Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. As a Security Engineer, you help protect network boundaries, keep computer systems and network devices hardened against attacks and provide security services to protect highly sensitive data like passwords and customer information. Security Engineers work directly with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. You also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.

You use your industry experience to own and drive the resolution of complex security incidents, policy questions and technical security issues.

The Enterprise Infrastructure Protection (EIP) team's mission is to keep Google user data safe by protecting Googlers and the compute infrastructure they use to access it, while maintaining a balance between security and usability. We aim to achieve our mission by motivating and building reliable, trustworthy, and usable computing infrastructure that makes it easy for every Googler to securely work and build products.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $237,000-$337,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Identify broad problems in identity, authentication, access security domains, and drive tractable novel solutions across the company and cloud.

  • Be a subject matter expert and security leader in multiple diverse domains in user authentication, networking, user account lifecycle management, and user and service access management.

  • Drive executive level agreement on the security requirements and security goal to secure complex cross-environment networking and access mechanisms.

  • Establish standards and policies that govern authentication and authorization to and from Cloud Service Provider (CSP) and the rest of Alphabets internal use cases.

  • Lead enterprise infrastructure protection strategy to create, evolve, and secure our internal Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and credential management security strategy.
