Amazon Quality Project Manager, Ring Device and Supplier Quality in Sunnyvale, California

Description

In this role, as a Quality project manager, you will be focusing on enhancing and scaling up our manufacturing quality processes. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in integrating quality measures, facilitating the scale-up of mechanisms, and consolidating quality data across various projects to identify areas for further improvement and ensure the highest quality standards of production.

Responsibilities include conducting early Design for Manufacturability reviews from a quality, automation, and manufacturing standpoint, with a particular focus on device assembling and key commodities such as mechanical parts, batteries, packaging, and lenses. This position requires close collaboration with our Asia and field team to evaluate issues and provide practical solutions to problems from materials, design, and process.

The Quality project manager will be instrumental in driving the standardization and consistency of quality mechanisms across all projects. This includes overseeing data mining activities, analyzing results, and leveraging these insights to offer recommendations, conclusions, and actionable solutions for continuous improvement.

This role will need to travel and interact with internal leadership and external suppliers, creating collaborative environment to enhance product quality and efficiency.

Key job responsibilities

• Integrate and enhance manufacturing quality processes, scale-up mechanisms, and consolidate quality data for various projects.

• Work with core team to conduct early DFM reviews with a focus on quality, automation, and manufacturing for assembly and critical commodities.

• Collaborate with our field and Asia teams to identify and implement solutions to issues caused by materials, design, and processes.

• Promote standardization and consistency in quality mechanisms across all projects.

• Oversee data mining, analyze results, and provide recommendations, conclusions, and actionable solutions for improvement.

• Travel as needed to work with internal leaders and external technical suppliers.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another STEM field.

• Over 10 years of experience in project management, quality engineering, process engineering, or a related field.

• Experience with SMT and final assembly, testing, packaging, and relevant audits.

• Hands-on expertise in identifying cause-and-effect relationships for key commodities such as mechanical parts, PCBs, or lens modules.

Preferred Qualifications

• Six Sigma certification.

• + 5 years of experience in quality control, lean manufacturing efforts, or design validation.

• Experience conducting quality system/process audits.

• Proficiency in Mandarin

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
