This position can be Part time or Full time Job Description: Serve as an expert in railroad safety on the C3RS project under the ASRS and Related Systems Program and expert analysis of rail safety reports. Assist with rail safety research efforts under C3RS and assist with project outreach and overall programmatic development and operations. Support the railroad safety program as defined by the FRA and implemented and managed by NASA. Conduct confidential conversations with reporters of safety events to obtain clarifying information while conducting analysis of the reports. Conduct safety research and develop reports and other work products based on the work of the safety reports. Collect information to ensure the accuracy of project reporting performance metrics. This position is located in Sunnyvale, CA. Basic Qualifications -10+ years of experience in railroad operations–related functions -Experience with rail operations as a yard master, trainman, train master, road foreman, engineer, or conductor -Experience with rail safety as an analyst, investigator, or researcher -Experience with computers and technology -Knowledge of various railroad regulations and operating rules and requirements, including GCOR and NORAC -Knowledge of Federal Rail Administration regulations, safety, and oversight functions -BA or BS degree or 10+ years of experience in railroad operations–related functions in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree Additional qualifications -Knowledge of an IT skill set to work closely with IT staff -Knowledge of risk management practices and standards -Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
