City of Sunbury Police Officer in Sunbury, Pennsylvania

The Sunbury City Police Department in Northumberland County Sunbury, Pennsylvania, is actively seeking applications for full-time police officer positions. Deadline for applications is April 5, 2024 at 4:00 pm.

While Act 120 training is preferred, it is not mandatory to apply for this position.

To be considered, applicants must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license, and hold a high school diploma or G.E.D. Additionally, candidates should meet the physical and mental fitness standards essential for police duties. Act 120 certification under Pennsylvania Act 120 (53 Pa. C.S.A. 2161) is a preferred but not required. Certified Act 120 officers depending on years of experience may be started at a higher salary level.

For individuals who are not Act 120 certified, the individuals tuition to attend the 6 month academy will be paid and a biweekly salary will be paid to the individuals while attending the police academy. A contract with a 5 year retention will be mandatory with the City of Sunbury upon the successful completion of the selection process. Upon completion of the academy the probationary officer will receive a yearly salary of $49,500.00 ($23.80 an hr.).

The City of Sunbury provides a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, eye and life insurance. Retirement options are 12 years of employment with a 25% pension or a 20 year, full retirement paid at 50%. An additional 2.5% per year after 20 years of service to 25 years of service paid at 62.5%.
