Kevin E. Raker Construction, LLC Heavy Equipment Laborer in Sunbury, Pennsylvania

Job Summary:

Perform a variety of manual labor tasks including but not limited to: demolition and abatement procedures, preparing excavations for concrete structures, assisting operators in excavation and/or movement of materials, assist carpenters in building, installing, bracing and stripping concrete forms, and placing and finishing structure concrete. This hourly, non-exempt position will work with direct supervision and/or instruction.

This is a safety sensitive position.

May be required to pass/obtain related employment background checks, fingerprinting checks, physical(s), and vaccination requirements as deemed necessary by Federal, State, and/or local government entities for which the Company is contractually obligated. Workforce reductions (layoff) occur on a yearly basis. Before determining the affected employees, the Company will give consideration to comparative ability, training, work performance, length of service (seniority), and other relevant qualifications.

Essential Functions:

  • Frequently and repetitively bend, lift, push, pull, move, carry, and manipulate a minimum of 50 lbs. a minimum distance of 100 ft.
  • Prepare excavations for concrete by placing and compacting backfill materials.
  • Learn to read grades and assist operators in excavation.
  • Perform tasks efficiently at elevated levels.
  • Assist carpenter in building wooden forms.
  • Set, brace, and strip wood and steel forms.
  • Effectively anticipate next steps in procedures
  • Place and finish concrete.
  • Operate various power tools with instruction and accuracy.
  • Operate pneumatic hammers, drills, etc. with proper technique.
  • Drill holes for and position reinforcing rods.
  • Cut, place, align, and secure rebar accurately, steadily, and uniformly.
  • Ensure safe working environment by learning and following KER safety policies and procedures.
  • Clean up jobsite, tools, and work area.
  • Perform traffic flagging operations.
  • Cooperate and communicate with employees at all levels.
  • Travel and arrive for starting time to various jobsite locations consistently.
  • Exercise proper care and maintenance of company equipment and project materials.
  • Frequently work more than 40 hours per week and non-traditional hours including night shift, Saturdays and occasionally Sundays.
  • Preform all job functions while properly wearing a respirator
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
  • Complete simpler tasks without direct supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Must have your own basic set of hand tools.
  • Must be able to read Standard US measurement tape measure
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Show self-motivation
  • Prefer valid driver's license for the state in which you reside with acceptable driving record per company minimum standards for drivers.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must successfully complete PennDOT Flagger Training Course and be prepared to flag
  • when needed.
  • Must successfully complete required safety training.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds consistently.
  • Ability to bend, sit, stoop, and stand for long periods of time in the outdoor weather.
  • Ability to be exposed to concrete dust, curing compound, and form oil on a daily basis.
  • Ability to work in field environments with exposure to dust, inclement weather conditions, extreme heat, noise, vibrations and a variety of petroleum products.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to walk and work on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to work comfortably and safely at heights on all types of structures.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
