Job Overview

The Deputy Project Manager will oversee and drive project execution for the Defense & Intelligence sector projects. This role has direct responsibility for the overall management of the cost, schedule, quality and customer/partner communications for the life of the project(s). This position requires extensive experience in running projects and teams remotely using industry-accepted project management processes, resource management, team leading and performance analysis. The Deputy Project Manager will direct and supervise staff and resources falling under their assigned projects.

Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Direct responsibilities and oversight for managing project(s) cost, schedule, quality, and customer/partner communications.

  • Create, control and oversee project plans, subcontractor plans, execution, and project deliverables for one or more projects, in line with sector goals/directives.

  • Set production goals and track performance against goal via production and analysis of ETCs and EACs; creates and manages Cost Estimates, SubK plans, burn rates, etc.

  • Responsible for communication and management of resource needs, scheduling, and plan to Director Defense & Intelligence.

  • Support Business Development within the Department of Homeland Security.

  • Support Technical Advisor with development and analysis of metrics and project estimates.

  • Prepare written technical responses and proposals.


  • Supervises direct reports including approving timecards, performing reviews and addressing HR issues.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • DHS client specifications and requirements, data compilation workflows and best practices, and security requirements.

  • Government security protocols to ensure the safekeeping of customer and staff information.

  • PMBOK / AGILE best practices.

  • Formal project management techniques (PMBOK / AGILE).

  • Demonstrated experience with software including but not limited to: ESRI Production Mapping suite of tools, including DataReviewer, Workflow Manager, and Task Assistant Manager, Microsoft suite, GAIT, Socet Set, Conflation Technologies, Map Compilation, Arc SDE, Database Schema Mapping, Open Source research techniques, ArcGIS, SDE, QGIS.

  • Effectively utilize project management tools (MS Project, UNANET)

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years' progressive or project management experience managing high-performance teams within the geospatial domain.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • U.S. Citizenship required

  • Active security clearance required. Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility preferred.

  • PMP required
