SUMMARY: The Machine Operator will set up and operate machinery to accurately process a customer's request for shipment, complying with all fulfillment, operations and safety procedures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Operate machinery, e.g., NPI, correctly to sort and process mail and consistently meet or exceed machine production standards and in accordance with DHL's quality process standards Perform machine preventative maintenance and basic mechanical duties to troubleshoot and resolve identified issues Inspect the machine prior to operating, to ensure its maximum efficiency Prepare mail by utilizing processing specifications installed in the machine Audit/observe machine performance with a critical eye to reduce rejected mail Maintain cleanliness of work area Duties may include reassignment to alternate operational areas as business needs require Essential duties are not necessarily exhaustive and may be supplemented or otherwise revised by DHL at its sole discretion EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High School or equivalent training and/or least 6 months related experience preferred REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS: Ability to speak English Understand and carry out oral instructions; read and carry out written instructions Understand standardized math processes, e.g., addition and subtraction Determine malfunctioning of units by observing; determine nature and location of malfunction Perform repair and maintenance of automation or other equipment Make adjustments to obtain specified operating conditions such as turning valves; switches, moving and setting controls, adjusting speed, etc. Work under pressure and rapidly for long periods of time PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Constantly stand in a stationary position to successfully operate the machines Frequently move mail and parcels weighing up to 50 pounds; may include frequent bending, lifting, pushing and pulling Will frequently examine, fix, and operate machinery, which may include bending, kneeling, twisting and reaching This is a warehouse environment where frequently this position will be exposed to cold, hot and changing temperatures; will constantly experience noise at medium level not damaging or loud enough to require protective equipment; will frequently be exposed to dust, dirt and changes in lighting Pay: $20 / hour As a leading logistics company in one of the fastest growing industries, at DHL eCommerce Solutions, we offer our employees, and their dependents benefits and incentives to make them successful at work and home.
