Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Supervisor Lab coordinates workflows including organizing, staffing, directing, reviewing, and monitoring related to some or all aspects of the clinical laboratory disciplines (e.g., Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Point of Care, Toxicology). This position works closely with other laboratory section leaders, laboratory management, and pathologists. They ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

Essential Job Functions

• Utilizes working knowledge of procedures and theories in all areas of responsibilities.

• Hires, onboards, and administers disciplinary actions of personnel as needed.

• Completes schedule and manages timekeeping.

• Implements policies and procedures as relates to specific area.

• Oversees training and orientation of personnel.

• Maintains standards of accreditation for their area.

• Performs regular discussion on priorities and performance to staff via touch bases, check-ins, etc.

Licensing/Certification

MLS Medical Lab Scientist Certification or eligible by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP) (required)

Education

Bachelors, Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Laboratory Science/Biomedical Science/Biology/Biochemistry

from a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved program (required)

Work Experience

5 years experience in a laboratory tech setting (required)

Previous experience in a leadership position in a laboratory tech environment (preferred)
