Job Title: CNC Machinist
Job Description
The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating multi-axis CNC machines including lathes, mills (horizontal and vertical), grinders, broaches, and gear generation & testing equipment. This role involves performing precision machining operations while maintaining close tolerance dimensions with minimal assistance. The machinist will read and interpret blueprints, calculate dimensions and tolerances, and test CNC programs prior to production runs. Additionally, the machinist will use various measuring gauges to inspect manufactured parts, ensure adherence to production schedules, provide feedback on equipment, and perform daily maintenance tasks. Collaboration with supervisors, quality assurance, and maintenance personnel is essential to prevent problems and identify improvement opportunities. The role also includes training other operators and participating in process improvement sessions.
Hard Skills
Setup and operation of multi-axis CNC and manual machine tools
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings/blueprints

This is a permanent position.
Work Site
This is a fully on-site position in CHESAPEAKE, Virginia.
Work Environment
The position is available in two shifts: 1st shift (7 AM-4 PM, Monday-Friday) and 2nd shift (2:30 PM-1 AM, Monday-Thursday). Overtime may be required as necessary. The environment is climate-controlled requiring steel toes and safety glasses. The role involves standing, walking, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, and using arms and hands.
