Job Description Summary

As a general repair machinist, you will be required to carry out day to day Machining repairs on aircraft engine parts and machine maintenance activity.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Operate Computer Numerical Control (CNC) & Manual Machine centers.

  • Calculate dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometers or vernier calipers.

  • Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.

  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.

  • Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments

  • Machine parts to specifications.

  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.

  • Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.

  • Diagnose machine tool malfunctions to determine need for adjustments or repairs.

  • Evaluate machining procedures, processes and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency or adaptability.

  • Perform work as assigned and in the manner as specified ensuring that all quality and safety requirements and practices are met.

  • Ensure that machines and tools are properly maintained, utilized and promptly returned in good condition after use.

  • Carry out day to day preventive or predictive maintenance activity of machine and tools at the respective work area.

  • Able to independently operate Manual Machine centers.

  • Able to perform coding on CNC machine centers and knowledgeable in CNC G-codes.

  • Perform repair on engine parts.

  • Autonomous Maintenance and good practices on machines and tools in the work area.

  • Meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost target of the cell

  • Meet QCWI, shop quality requirements and show accountability in day-to-day job.

  • Perform repair/machine task according to manual to complete the work scope instruction.

  • Determines the repair-ability of parts that not meeting the applicable requirements.

  • Generates applicable documentation and purchase order for the repair of unserviceable parts.

  • Records the measurement results on the appropriate documentation.

  • Play an active role in Lean and continuous improvement activities across shop.

  • Be flexible and perform task assigned by area leader on daily basis.

  • Be a team player and able to integrate into a team to work on kaizens.

Qualifications / Requirements :

  • Diploma in Production Technology, or any Engineering related fields.

  • Certificate in Computer numerical control (CNC) machine operation is added advantage.

  • Minimum 5 years working experience in performing general repair or Heat treatment or CNC machine task and able to perform dimensional inspection of engine parts.

  • Ability to read, understand and interpret Engine Shop Manual (ESM), Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Repair manual and other applicable manuals.

  • Knowledgeable and proficient in the proper use of precision measuring equipment such as CNC equipment, gauges, etc.

  • Working knowledge of the functions and operation of the equipment while performing repair.

  • Proficient in using ERP system, SAP, or CNC program and familiar with measuring tools.

  • Proficient in technical writing.

  • Must be able to speak and understand English.

  • Able to mentor trainees and impart repair and machining skills/knowledge.
