Hyatt Director of Sales and Marketing in STOWE, Vermont

Description:

This position focuses heavily on driving revenue through overnight visitation from groups, conferences and events. Oversees marketing efforts for the Lodge at Spruce Peak as well as the Club at Spruce Peak and Stowe Country Club. Employs a collaborative approach to build revenues in each business unit including Food & Beverage, Golf and Spa. A key member of the Executive Committee, this position is highly visible with ownership, corporate leadership and the greater community. Manages a team of seven; reports to the Managing Director.

Essential Functions

  • Direct leadership of the Sales and Marketing team.The DOSM has responsibility of the Sales & Marketing budget, inclusive of revenue forecasting, advertising, marketing, public relations, developing and writing business plans and ownership engagement

  • Design, implement and facilitate the annual marketing plan for the resort.Identifying challenges throughout the booking cycle & developing a plan with tactics to address concerns

  • Develop group marketing materials & strategic revenue plan for the resort.Ensure implementation and oversee execution

  • Direct leadership of the marketing, communications & agency partners.Work hand in hand with marketing efforts being made by the Spruce Peak Resort Association to ensure we are complimenting marketing strategies

  • Responsible for developing strategy, strategically deploying, determining and achieving budgeted revenues across the Corporate-Consortia and transient leisure market segments

  • Attract, retain and acquire new customers.Expand client base through prospecting, marketing and cultivating key relationships

  • Attend major travel, trade and corporate functions and conduct sales trips based on business priorities which may include travel on weekends and evening events

  • Interact with the operations team to ensure understanding of guest needs and in creating a working relationship within all areas of the operation

  • Monitor quality and accuracy of final group sales contracts to ensure proper application of resort deposit, space allocation, yield and policies

  • Manage administrative tasks in sales and events systems

  • Recruit, hire and successfully onboard and train colleagues as needed in Sales and Marketing

  • Foster a cooperative work environment, which focuses on productivity, great working relationships and positive associate morale

  • Protect the hotel’s legal and financial interests through proper contract and risk management practices

  • Closely work with Revenue Management team on group strategies, room rates and marketing initiatives to ensure revenue maximization

  • Full time, on-property support of the Sales and Marketing teams.This is not a remote or hybrid role

  • Other duties and requirements commensurate with leadership and managerial positions within the company

Qualifications:

  • College graduate or equivalent industry experience

  • Experience as a Director of Sales and Marketing; preferably in a complex resort environment

  • Excellent written / verbal communication skills, presentation skills and the ability to utilize them effectively with guests, peers and associates

  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and balance multiple commitments simultaneously

  • Strong customer service aptitude

  • Understanding of budgetary and fiscal responsibility within the department.

  • Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments; delegate responsibilities effectively

  • Ability to lead and direct performance of departmental associates and follow through with corrections where needed

  • Be able to analyze and resolve problems while exercising good judgment and maintaining the best interest of the company

  • Ability to effectively motivate department associates and maintain a cohesive team while working effectively across departments to achieve company objectives
