Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

Doctoral degree or foreign equivalent in biochemistry or related field. Experience with synthetic organic chemistry, analytical chemistry background.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of relevant biochemistry and radiochemistry.


Brief Description of Duties:

The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the department of Psychiatry. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.


The Qu Lab, within the Departments of Psychiatry and Chemistry at Stony Brook University, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate. The candidate will have the opportunity to train in a multi-disciplinary environment, where the candidate will be involved from design and synthesize bioactive organic molecules to label them with radioisotopes, and further to evaluate their bioactivities as well as to perform pre-clinical imaging studies. In addition to ongoing projects, which include the development of a novel fluoride-mediated desilylation (FMDS) radiolabeling methodology, the group will develop novel radiopharmaceuticals for investigating and treating various (neurological, oncological and cardiovascular) diseases.


SBU MART and FERM radiochemistry facilities is a recent build-up PET chemistry program equipped with state-of-the-art radiochemistry instruments. The desired personal will have opportunities to access these facilities and obtain hands-on radiopharmaceutical cGMP production experience.

Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research experiments in the field of Organic Chemistry/radiopharmaceutical chemistry.

Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.

Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.

Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.

*Other duties as assigned, which may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.
