Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): * Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Advertising, Communications, Communications Design, English, Journalism, Media Studies, Marketing, Social Media, Writing or a related field. Five (5) years of full-time experience in Digital Marketing (i.e. creating original web, email, and social media content for an organization or corporation). *Preferred Qualifications: *Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in a related field. Demonstrated experience using a content management system (i.e., Drupal, WordPress, OmniUpdate). Experience with Google Analytics. Experience using Adobe Creative Suite. Experience using email marketing platforms (Luminate, ThankView). Experience with SEO/SEM Tools. Experience with paid media. Experience working in higher education or nonprofit communications. *Professional and Personal Qualifications: *This individual develops, plans, executes and analyzes strategic, multi-channel advancement initiatives. Working collaboratively with the Constituent Experience (CX) and Strategy and Administration and departments, the DS devises, crafts, and implements digital strategies and solutions to inform, engage, and inspire target audiences. The Digital Strategist manages the website, email, and social media portfolios for the division, working with stakeholders to innovate new opportunities and to realize efficiency and growth goals annually. The ideal candidate is comfortable educating, persuading, and experimenting with novel strategies, tactics, and approaches to achieve communications and marketing goals. The ideal candidate will have:- Deep knowledge of building, executing, and maintaining web, email, and social media communications strategies and tactics.- Experience supervising and motivating professional staff members, vendors, and student employees.- Strong writing, visual skills, communication skills as well as broad capacity for analyzing and synthesizing information.- Ability to produce editorial and graphic content: adept in using editing tools such as Photoshop.- Diplomacy and comfort in negotiating and managing expectations.- Inquisitive nature: ability to learn new skills quickly and take initiative in developing new systems and programs. *Brief Description of Duties: * The Digital Strategist (DS) is a key team member of the Advancement Marketing and Communications team in Stony Brook University's Office of Advancement who collaborates with key partners to lead strategy aimed at maximizing the potential of digital channels to engage alumni, donors, prospects, and other constituents. The DS is responsible for providing leadership and guidance for digital strategy, information architecture, user experience, and user interface functions within Advancement's online portfolio. The DS will bring experience and creativity to build an effective and dynamic digital experience for SBU's Office of Advancement.The incumbent will report to the AVP of Advancement Marketing and Communications.Plan, Conceptualize and Strategize Digital Communications:- Serve as digital leader for University Advancement, leading the strategic development, governance, and growth, of divisional web, social media, and email portfolios.- In collaboration with CX and Strategy and Administration, develop strategies for targeting, segmenting, and understanding the needs of advancement constituents.- Monitor emerging communications trends and strategies, pilot new approaches, and adopt/integrate techniques as appropriate.- Develop and communicate annual goals, benchmarks, and strategies for web, social media, and email platforms, ensuring stakeholders can use and clearly understand reports.Execute, Schedule, and Manage:- Craft and manage workflows for content updates across the division's web portfolio.- Actively brainstorm, review, and edit content in collaboration with the digital media manager, digital coordinator, and advancement writer.- Supervise digital media manager and senior digital coordinator in strategic development, publication, and reporting of communication and marketing tactics on social media, web, and email platforms.- Create and develop content in support of web, social media, and email as needed.- Identify and work with vendors and freelancers as needed.Team Leader:- Lead the development of a digital team by training, mentoring, and onboarding new members of the digital strategy team.- With the digital media manager, drive adoption of accessibility, process, and policy standards, supporting digital best practices and KPIs.- Ensure digital strategies support user experience, SEO goals and brand guidelines.- Present and share processes, concepts, opportunities, and solutions to internal stakeholders and external audiences to generate buy-in and increase the profile of the division with our peers. - Other duties as assigned. *Special Notes: *The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation.
