New England Science & Sailing Foundation Administrative Assistant in Stonington, Connecticut

Position Summary

The NESS Administrative Assistant plays an important role supporting many functions at New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS). This individual has experience in a variety of administrative and clerical tasks with a strong focus on computer programs and database knowledge. This is a customer facing position that requires a proactive, energetic, and well-organized individual that is detail-oriented, and able to successfully work on multiple projects simultaneously. This position will assist in all office functions and program administration and support. This non-exempt, full-time, year-round position reports to NESS's Office Coordinator.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Communicate and work effectively with students, parents, customers, and staff

• Work closely with NESS's Office Coordinator to assist with daily tasks and operations of the office

• Update student records and record information in student database

• Answer and respond to customer phone calls and other inquiries as needed

• During the summer months, supervise NESS students (ages 4-17) during the lunch hours

• Produce rosters and reports to be distributed to staff

• Input survey and vessel use data

• Work with managed services provider to coordinate IT updates and maintain tech inventory

• Answer and record marine radio calls and phone calls

• Adhere to NESS's Emergency Action Plan and to all CT state camp regulations

• Demonstrate a high degree of maturity and professionalism

• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Must be 18 or older

• Previous office, customer service, and/or camp experience preferred

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Experience with database management

• Strong decision making, and logistical skills

• Must be highly organized with attention to detail

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

• Pass government background check

Compensation commensurate with experience and includes comprehensive benefits package.
