Sutter Health Supervisor, Health Information Management (HIM) in Stockton, California

Position Overview:

Reports to Manager of HIM. Provides direct supervision to the staff in assigned area of HIM. Manages team workload and resources to ensure team activities are executed accurately and efficiently. Oversees and performs quality reviews, monitors employee performance and assists with staff development, retention and selection. Serves as a technical resource and content expert in area of assigned responsibility, providing guidance to affiliates and being available for questions to clarify work activities. Oversees the implementation of policies and procedures set by HIM leadership. Acts as liaison between the local administration and HIM operations. Oversees staff training, coaching, and support; issues identification, assessment, and resolution; and technical support in order to achieve desired outcomes and compliance with Sutter Health policies/procedures and standards.

EDUCATION

Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

  • HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience

  • RHIA/RHIT preferred

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

  • 5 years demonstrated experience and a proven track record in a Health Information Department or related field.

  • 5 years experience managing or leading teams.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • In-depth knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Knowledge/awareness of all areas related to HIM Client Location Operations and how they interrelate.

  • Familiarity of principles, methods, and techniques related to the HIM area of responsibility.

  • Ability to mentor and support staff transitioning to higher skill levels based on measured quality and productivity standards.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback to team members to support continuous improvement.

  • Ability to manage own schedule and responsibilities. Must have initiative to work effectively without constant supervision and direction, meeting all deadlines.

  • Skills using spreadsheet, word processing, statistical, project management, and presentation software applications, preferably Microsoft Suite.

Pay Range is $35.52 to $53.28 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
