Description

Position Summary:

Person in this position will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program. Essential Job Functions include those listed below. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Administrative supervision of staff assigned to the program;

  • Monitor the adherence to the policies and procedures of the program;

  • Conduct monthly quality assurance reviews of the treatment case files to ensure compliance with program standards;

  • Facilitate educational groups, family groups and assist clients of the program;

  • Responsible for ensuring facility compliance with health, fire, safety and other regulatory standards;

  • Mediate client issues that cannot be appropriately resolved at the program level;

  • Ensure that the agency systems for collecting statistical data necessary for program evaluation, planning, justification and staff training are collected as required;

  • Fill in for counselors during times they may be unavailable due to illness, training, etc.;

  • Provide daily, weekly and monthly reports as requested;

  • Assist and monitor data collection and statistical reporting and complete Quality Improvement reports as requested;

  • Maintain relationships with referring and supporting agencies and represent the agency at various community meetings as requested including acting as a liaison to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) when the Program Director is not available;

  • Available to be call and program coverage as needed.

  • Participate in daily shift exchange including documenting in facility log at the end of shifts and thoroughly reviewing log at the start of shifts;

  • Perform the duties of any Counselor when needed;

  • Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision and goals of WestCare Foundation; and

  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Experience consisting of a minimum of one (1) year working in a substance abuse treatment program;

  • One (1) year experience in supervision/management;

  • Must possess knowledge of chemical dependency, substance abuse and personality dynamics of the substance abuser;

  • Must be in possession of a valid California Driver’s License and be eligible for WestCare vehicle insurance;

  • Must be able to pass a criminal history background screening and receive clearance from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation; and

  • CPR Certification, First Aid Certification and an Annual Tuberculosis test.

Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a degree in Addiction Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field; or

  • Equivalent experience consisting of three (3) years of documented experience demonstrating a history of administrative responsibility in the area of substance abuse treatment/recovery for the criminal justice population.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily performed in an office or residential treatment setting; and

  • Some outdoor activities may be required.

Physical Demands:

  • The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, BUT exposure or potential exposure may be required as a condition of employment. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be readily available to every employee engaged in Category II tasks;

  • Occasional lifting of more than 10 pounds;

  • Transportation of clients in company vehicle;

  • Occasional risk of intensive physical activity with clients; and

  • Sitting, standing, walking, reaching are performed in the normal course of the position.
