Team or Function Overview

The right candidate will be invited to join the Stockton Plant team and continue a legacy of over 40 years of successful operations in this location. We operate two production lines that produce rolled roofing products for both commercial and residential applications.

Summary

We are looking for a Production Manager who will be responsible for supervising the Production department through his/her direct reports to meet quality and productivity objectives in a safe and efficient manner. Duties include development of operating procedures, safe work practices, process problem-solving, operator training, and resolution of day to day production department issues.

Essential Duties

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain productivity and foster continuous improvement through sound management practices including communication of goals, training of operators, operating machines within established process specifications, and identification and resolution of production related issues.

  • Maximize production efficiency, achieve targeted raw material usages and minimize yield losses while producing a high quality product in a safe manner.

  • Ability to effectively communicate the Bonus Plan to all employees to maximize participation and impact on performance.

  • Provide a safe workplace through adherence to company safety policy, housekeeping and defined standards of training.

  • Monitor compliance to safety policies and procedures, conduct inspections of plant areas and ensure deficiencies found are addressed appropriately in a timely manner. Create new or modify existing safety procedures when required.

  • Ensure production crews are well trained, involved and committed to meeting production,qualityandsafetyrequirements.Provideannualsafetytrainingas requested. Be the primary safety trainer for the Production department's new employees and others when requested.

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Production Supervisors and crews. Develop Production Supervisors through training, counseling and coaching and provide them with daily and long term guidance. Ensure production operators receive appropriate training for their positions. Participate in the interview process for production and maintenance personnel.

  • Provide support through direct leadership in a highly involved workplace.

  • Maintain an excellent quality level of the product produced at the lowest cost. Monitor key operating parameters to ensure the product adheres to specifications while minimizing raw material usage. Act as a liaison between the production crews and quality department on issues. Work with production crews to identify and reduce controllable quality issues.

  • Support department expense target goals by minimizing production costs without negatively impacting operating results. Lead efforts to utilize cross training of operators and running shorthanded when possible. Identify opportunities for cost reductions in operating supplies. Monitor costs associated with the maintenance of production department forklifts and other mobile equipment.

  • Manage projects of appropriate nature. Cover production shifts for supervisors as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds

Under This Roof, We Require

  • High school diploma or equivalent, Associate or Bachelor degree preferred.

  • A minimum of Five years as a production supervisor in a heavy manufacturing environment coupled with experience in continuous process industry, preferably a webbed based process.

Under This Roof, We Also Value

  • Experience in continuous web manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures

  • Experience in the application of analytical troubleshooting techniques such as Kepner-Tregoe, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, and Root Cause Failure Analysis

  • Ability to lead and direct the work of others in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and listening) for dialogue at all levels of the organization

  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to plan, execute, and control multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in hiring, training, supervision, performance management, and employee development

Annual Salary Range: 112,500-143,750
