Intel Wireless Access SW - Platform Application Engineer in Stockholm, Sweden

Job Description

The Network and Edge (NEX) group is looking to expand the performance and optimization group. The work is focused on Computer Architecture, both hardware and software. It includes both C/C++ based software performance analysis and optimization as well as hardware exploration in simulators to identify future enhancements for Intel based CPUs. The work mainly focuses on Linux based development tools but also includes internal simulators and tools related to such. This work requires a good understanding computer architecture and CPU microarchitecture, or willingness to learn such.

This position is based in Sweden and report into the Kista/Stockholm team. It is not a requirement to be based in Kista but one has to have good flexibility for occasionally visits for meetings.

Qualifications

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyze and optimize software, internal and external code, primarily C/C++ and related. Including documenting and presenting improvement proposals (Word / PowerPoint)

  • Analyze hardware bottlenecks and how these can be resolved, both in software and with changes to future hardware

  • Work with customers on performance related support aspects, guide them through issues and questions

  • Work with internal IP development and architecture teams.

The ideal candidate must exhibit the following behavioral traits:

  • Be inquisitive, innovative, and a team player with a strong focus on quality workmanship.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's with 3+ years of experience in CS/CE or a related field

  • Experience with low-level software development in C/C++ and x86 asm

  • Experience with software optimization and performance tuning tools such as Linux Perf, Intel vTune and similar

  • Experience with Linux / open-source packages development tools

  • Communicates in English

Good to have skills:

  • Communicates in Swedish

Working Model

This role is available as a fully home-based and generally would require you to attend Intel sites only occasionally based on business need. This role may also be available as our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
