Install or assist with installation of new fixtures (hot & cold water, vent pipe, chilled water, condensate drains, water fountains, etc.) using the proper materials, methods, and procedures. These installations shall meet any local, state, and BOCA codes.\ \ Install or assist with installation/repair of a variety of pumps and related systems\ \ Repairs to existing plumbing systems including toilets, drains, sinks, small pumps, etc.\ \ Inspect water heaters of all sizes\ \ Miscellaneous support to all shops as to proper materials, methods, and practices in the installation or assistance with the installation of plumbing systems.\ \ May be asked to assist with other duties related to operations, maintenance and renovations to buildings and equipment such as preventive maintenance; light duty carpentry, painting, electrical and other miscellaneous repair and maintenance activities; and respond to emergency and urgent work.\ \ There will be regular exposure to disagreeable conditions such as extreme temperature changes, odors, loud noises, cramped spaces etc.\ \ Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (gloves, safety glasses, etc.). These items are provided and not for personal use.\ \ This position regularly stands, bends, stoops, lifts above the shoulders, is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally.\ \ The employee in this position may be required to work overtime after 4 pm, shift work, and be on a rotating standby for emergencies during non-business hours, including when the university is closed and/or other events after 5 pm on weekdays, weekends, and holidays when management deems necessary.
