JOB SPECIFICS

This position works closely with Community Corrections (Probation) Senior Management Team on budget, contracts, and grants along with other accounting processes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economic or related field, and three years as a Financial Analyst; or equivalent.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:

  • Four years paid experience in a financial role

  • Paid experience in a government agency

  • Paid experience using accounting software

  • Skilled in culturally sensitive communication with identified minority population

SELECTION TECHNIQUE: Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted and the top-scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.

HOURS / DAYS/LOCATION : 8:00a.m - 4:30p.m Monday through Friday. Work location and hours are subject to change based on business need.

ANTICIPATED HIRING RATE: $33.68 -$39.81 hourly

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Financial Analyst serves in a lead role to provide specialized expertise in performing a variety of professional financial work in a department; reviews and analyzes budget and financial activities for a department or group of departments; advises departments concerning budget and accounting practices; serves as financial liaison with department managers; and ensures compliance with legal guidelines and established fiscal procedures.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage departmental budget administration activities by reviewing and analyzing budget process and financial transactions

• Monitor financial records; assist in the preparation of the department budget

• Advise management regarding changes to department budget

• Provide program personnel with financial assistance in administering grants and contracts

• Serve as liaison to other county departments, State or Federal agencies in financial reporting matters

• Prepare financial reports and budget analysis for management as well as internal and external stakeholders.

• Review, analyze and approve financial reports to ensure compliance

• Monitor grant process to ensure compliance

• Analyze and implement department financial procedures within established county guidelines

• Provide assistance to or serve as lead worker to other Budget & Financial Analysts

• Daily communication with department system users to provide instruction and training on system uses and related policies and procedures

• Perform other duties as assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is sedentary in nature performed within the Government Center or satellite offices. Lifting requirement of 15-20 pounds on an occasional basis. Frequent wrist and finger manipulation due to high concentration of filing, compiling, calculating, or computer work. Equipment used may include, but is not limited to, computer, calculator, telephone, copy and fax machine. Additional physical/mental requirements that occur may not be listed above, but are inherent in performing the position's essential functions.
