JOB REQUIREMENTS: As a School Age Assistant Teacher, your role is to facilitate the daily curriculum activities, ensuring that the individual interests, needs and safety of all children are met. SCHEDULE Variety of shifts available (Must be able to work a minimum of 3 shifts per week) Program hours are Monday - Friday 6:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m. Maintain a safe play environment. Observe and monitor children\'s play activities. Communicate with children\'s parents or guardians about daily activities, behaviors, and related issues. Support children\'s emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts. Sanitize toys and play equipment. Keep records on individual children, including daily observations and information about activities, meals served, and medications administered. Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas. Perform general administrative tasks, such as taking attendance, editing internal paperwork, and making phone calls. Read to children and teach them simple painting, drawing, handicrafts, and songs. Help children with homework and school work. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working in programs for children ages 5-12 years. Most important, you must enjoy spending time with groups of school-age children, and have an understanding of their behaviors and group dynamics. Other critical competencies include high energy levels, patience, creativity, problem-solving skills, strong communication skills, enthusiasm and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. You must exhibit the Y core values of respect, responsibility, honesty and caring.
