MATSYS, Inc. Control Systems Intern in Sterling, Virginia

MATSYS, Incl is seeking a Control Systems Intern to support system optimization of various powder manufacturing operations at our headquarters in Sterling, VA. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in integrating data acquisition and analysis into laboratory equipment, developing fluidization control systems, optimizing high energy milling operations, and monitoring, and designing systems for powder dispensing automation. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and building control systems and electrical wiring, data collection and processing, and programming logic. Description

  • Work alongside a team of engineers and technicians to develop skills ensure project alignment with business objectives
  • Develop and implement control system systems and software and maintain existing systems
  • Work with engineers and engineering technicians to scope out projects and set timetables for execution
  • Integrate control system hardware and software into production equipment to enable real time monitoring and data tracking
  • Support data collection, optimization, and machine learning efforts for compiling and analyzing large bodies of data
  • Troubleshoot control systems problems related to signaling, operation, and automation
  • Conduct data analysis and report on findings
  • Create documentation and procedures for project deliverables and facilitate project handoff to production team
  • Develop and implement Python control software for advanced equipment
  • Support team in research of automation methods
  • Other duties as assigned

Required

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in systems engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, and/or mechanical engineering (minimum of two years of college experience required)

Strong passion for control systems/programming and eagerness to learn about material processing equipment

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling content

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Working knowledge of Python

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment

Positive attitude, proactive mindset, and willingness to take on new challenges
