Waltonen Wire Harness Design Engineer in Sterling Heights, Michigan

Waltonen Engineering is actively seeking a Wire Harness Design Engineer to join our team!

The role of Harness Design Engineer Specialist will be working in our Harness Group and be responsible for helping to designing and construct Electrical Harness Designs that will be used in our next vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing electrical wiring harnesses to include component selection for connectors, back shells, sleeving, braiding, sealants, boots, transitions, etc.

  • Assist in determining harness layout through vehicle and branch points for multi-branch harnesses

  • Work directly in Capital Harness System (CHS) (aka Mentor Graphics) software, specifically in Harness XC, Capital Logic and Capital Topology

  • Working with CAD draftsman to route harnesses in 3D CAD tools (Pro-E and/or NX)

  • Working with systems engineers to define whole vehicle pin-level interconnect

  • Working with physical architects to define harness routing channels, space claims

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering is desired.

  • Minimum of 1-year work experience is desired in an engineering role.

  • Ability to balance cost/schedule/technical priorities.

  • Experience with Microsoft Visio desirable.

  • Experience with Capital Harness System (CHS) (aka Mentor Graphics) software, specifically in Harness XC, Capital Logic and Capital Topology is desirable.

  • Experience with Pro-E Creo desirable.

  • Experience with NX desirable.

  • Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to use Engineering Development and Test Tools.

  • Only United States Citizens can be considered

  • Must Possess or be able to obtain a security clearance
