General Dynamics Land Systems Summer Intern Quality Vehicle Systems Engineer in Sterling Heights, Michigan

About the Role The General Dynamics Land Systems Summer 2024 Internship Program provides an opportunity for students looking to start or continue the transition from academia into industry. Our three-month internship assignments provide compensation based on area of study and class standing, and have the students embedded in key functional areas of our business, getting real-world experience and mentorship from seasoned professionals. The Quality Vehicle Systems Engineering Intern will integrate into a dynamic and diverse team responsible for acceptance testing of prototype tracked and wheeled military vehicles, including main battle tanks and armored personnel carriers. Responsibilities to Anticipate for this Role Determine & evaluate test requirements Develop & revise acceptance test procedures Conduct vehicle verification checkouts to establish baseline of test assets Execute functional acceptance test procedures Document status of testing compliances and deficiencies Communicate test results to internal and external customers as required Support other areas of Engineering Quality Assurance as needed Qualifications Sought Pursuing a bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year university or college in an engineering field Must have attained at least a Junior status based on the university/college's class standing requirements at start of internship Preferred - GPA of 3.0 or higher Must be at least 18 years old Must be a U.S. Person (i.e., a lawful permanent resident of the U.S.) Must successfully pass standard pre-employment screens and must provide an official college or university transcript from their school before their first day of employment. Must be able to complete a minimum of a full-time, 3-month assignment. Must pass ASR to enter military vehicles Additional Information / Desired Experience Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally Ability to work in a shop environment Ability to work within an interdependent team
