Actalent Lead Software Engineer in Sterling Heights, Michigan

Description:

  • Monitor progress as to whats needed per the program they are working on

  • Help lead an embedded software engineering team through their engineering life-cycle

  • Identifying any issues that come up within the engineering life-cycle and troubleshoot to see what they are encountering providing understanding and direction

Set up change requests

  • Capturing status and reporting to project lead

  • Understanding branching techniques - creating, setting up and utilizing to help drive development with engineering team

  • Help software engineers/developers to work through appropriate channels

Essential Job Functions:

Provide technical guidance and direction for the software team in the development of software requirements, design, code, test procedures to ensure a high quality software release.

Establish and maintain Software Development Plan (SDP) as well as the software development environment and branch strategies.

Ensure all software engineering activities are carried out in a managed, controlled, efficient and effective manner consistent with the established organizational processes.

Develop resource estimates in regards to manpower, schedule, cost and scope.

Establish work assignments for individual engineers and collect completion statuses.

Manage software engineering execution throughout the project lifecycle via the use of project metrics, risk management, structured decisions and project status reports.

Coordinate with engineering support functions such as Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineers and Configuration Management (CM) Engineers.

Support Peer Reviews, Software Configuration Control Boards (SCCBs), and other project related meetings.

Work with CM Engineers to develop build scripts and an independent build environment and to execute software builds complete with release notes.
